About



Dr. Abdullahi Arabo a Fulani by tribe, hails from Digil, Nigeria is an Associate Professor specialising in Cyber Science and Network Security, He earned his Ph.D. from Liverpool John Moore's University, focusing on identity management in mobile ad hoc networks (MANets) and the composition of crisis management systems in ubiquitous environments. In 2007, he completed his M.Eng. in computing at Swansea University.

Dr. Arabo previously holds the position of Senior Lecturer in Computer Networks & Mobile Technology within the Department of Computer Science and Creative Technologies at UWE, Bristol. In this capacity, he has significantly influenced both students and faculty, elevating the department's research reputation and fostering connections with industry partners. Committed to continuous professional development, he also supports the growth of his students and colleagues.


Dr. Arabo has previously served as reviewer foe grants/proposals for EPSRC, British Council, and Newton. His dedication to cyber education earned him the "Most Dedicated Cyber Professional Development Educator (UK)" at the AI 2020 Cyber Security Awards. He has exceeded expectations in his current role and is a member of the UWE Black Hall of Fame. Dr. Arabo is also one of the awardees of the prestigious National Teaching Fellowship (NTF) Awards 2022.


Notably, Dr. Arabo spearheaded the development of an NCSC-certified MSc Cyber Security program at the University of the West of England and served as a faculty member of the Oxford Internet Institute (OII). He has also contributed to the Oxford University Cyber Security Centre. In his prior roles, he worked as a Cyber Security consultant at BT and as a Research Fellow at the University of Oxford, leading research on connected home security. Dr. Arabo boasts over a decade of experience in research, development, teaching, and consultancy across various domains, including Network Security, System-of-Systems composition security, Mobile ad-hoc networks, ubiquitous computing, Cyber Security, Smart Device Security, and Identity Management.


Recognised for his expertise, Dr. Arabo is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA) and was named a National Teaching Fellow in 2022. He has completed the Professional Development Course for External Examiner by the AdvancedHE. Furthermore, he has served as a primary investigator and Co-investigator on research projects, including Webinos (FP7-ICT-2009-5), and continues to contribute as a reviewer on conference technical program committees and journal editorials. Dr. Arabo has also authored a book in his field.
